Hickory Nut Tea
4 oz. packet of loose leaf hickory tea
2 cups of water
1. In a pot, add 2 cups of water to the tea.
2. Steep for 20 minutes. The longer it steeps, the darker and more flavorful the tea will become.
Optional; The nut meat will float on top and can be strained off, puréed in a blender and added to the tea. This adds more flavor and calorie content and creates a milky looking texture.
3. Strain.
4. Season with maple syrup to taste, and a pinch of cinnamon. Store up to a week in an air tight container.
Suggestions; This tea can be used as a substitute for liquids in baked goods, preparing rice, or adding to cereal. Add a little salt to enhance the flavor.
